Story of Karma
CJ Liu interviews Michael Schauch about his book “A STORY of KARMA”.
Since he was 17 years old, Michael had always had a dream to go to the Himalayas. As an avid climber, he saw a photo in 2011 in a remote valley of northern Nepal that had been closed to outsiders for decades. He was driven to climb it. After months of preparation and planning, Mike gathered a trusted team to document a community rarely touched by modern civilization. After being trapped in by storms and days of navigating treacherous and difficult terrain, he had no choice but to turn back.
His dream to climb the mountain that had haunted him for years now squashed, Mike took a different path—literally and figuratively. He realized soon enough that his relentless quest to climb the mysterious mountain was meant to lead him to something much more important. The true meaning of his journey was to meet a 7 year-old girl named Karma. In the interview, Michael shares the incredible stories of reaching this ancient community barely touched by modern man and how both his life and his adopted daughter’s lives were forever changed.
