Mindfulness Techniques: Being Present off the Cushion

CJ interview Darren Cockburn on his book “Being Present” and offers mindfulness techniques. It’s one thing to be mindful on the cushion, but what happens during the rest of the day.  Darren shares techniques on how you can be more mindful off the cushion.  There are some that believe that you can be even more mindful during your dream states. If you practice being mindful throughout the day, there are benefits that accrue over time.

In this video, Darren explains that the key to mindfulness is to be aware, accept and engage.  These steps will lead to appropriate action versus impulsive behavior.

Next in the video, CJ and Darren talk about discerning when you are “accepting” what is or if you are just in a state of denial.  Sometimes when we “accept” we are secretly just resisting.

In the end of the day, why does any of this mindful action matter? Darren explains how using these techniques help you connect with the flow of life.  Once you connect with the flow of life, you find life’s joy.  But beyond that you experience Divine wisdom, love, and beauty.
